The University of Cordoba leads in teaching and research in the field of national public education, according to the study of the 69 public and private Campus existing in Spain realized by the Institute of Industrial and Financial Analysis (IAIF) from the Complutense University of Madrid that has made. The study places the University of Cordoba in the first place in the ranking of public universities in Spain. Cordoba University has 21 000 students, 1 200 teachers and 700 employees. It is structured into three main Campus, among which the Campus of Rabanales. Among the nine best in Spain and one of Andalucia, the University of Cordoba has been appointed by the Ministries of Education and Science and Technology, with one of the highest distinctions that exist in academia International Campus of Excellence. Between the ages VIII to X, at the time of the Emirate and Caliphate of the Omeyas, the Cordoba was made one of the focal points of Europe and the world where were studying the major scientific and humanistic disciplines, making possible the coexistence of the three major monotheistic cultures and being a pillar for the emergence in Renaissance of the Europe in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.

Fundecor the University Foundation of the University of Cordoba, founded in 1996 to promote the development of Cordoba. The foundation has been awarded with the mention of Córdoba’s citizens of 2007, one of the most important awards of the city that delivers the Diario Córdoba, local daily newspaper, through the popular vote in the different areas of Culture, Education, Business, Shows and Sports; and the Knowledge Transfer Award (I + D + i) from Social Council of the University of Córdoba. In recognition of its work and dedication has been likewise honoured by the School of the Industrial Organization (EOI).
