CÓRDOBA CITY

Very few European cities can bring a story as nourished as Cordoba. Its origin dates back to the Final Bronze. With more than 2,000 years of history, was founded in 206 BC by the Romans. The city, overlooking the Guadalquivir River, was the largest colony of Roman Hispania. In 929 d. C. was proclaimed capital of the Muslim state known as the Caliphate of Cordoba and Al-Andalus. No other city from Western Europe could compare in the tenth century with Cordoba. It is recognized as the cradle of art and wisdom and example of tolerance and coexistence of cultures: Christian, Roman, Jewish and Arabic. Today is World Heritage City and candidate for European Capital of Culture 2016.
